Projects & Engineering is AkzoNobel's centre of excellence in the field of project management and engineering that delivers investment projects. At Projects & Engineering you will be challenged to continuously improve services, working on projects up to 100 million Euros in investment value in which you will work together with highly skilled technical professionals who work from our offices in Sweden, the Netherlands, China, USA, Brazil and India. Project and Engineering delivers capital investments in line with AkzoNobel business requirements.
For our office in Bohus, Sweden, we are looking for a Lead Mechanical Engineer, who will be part of leading large, complex global projects, with potential to grow in responsibility in the P&E organisation.
Job description
As a Lead Mechanical Engineer you will work on mechanical design for new plants and in global multidisciplinary CAPEX projects.
Main responsibilities will be to:
• Lead and manage Mechanical design of equipment, layout and piping
• Responsible for the sub project budget and to identify the resource need together with the Project Manager
• Produce technical documentation as a base for inquiries of equipment and construction works
• Participate in negotiations with sub suppliers
• Through design reviews ensure that the design meets requirements by law, standard and contract
• Participate in supervision of mechanical construction works
• Responsible for communication with other disciplines in order to find optimal solutions in the projects
• Provide input to cost estimates, time schedules and technical documents to internal customers
• Give support to external clients such as mechanical inspections and advice for maintenance
Who we are looking for
• M.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering or similar
• At least 5 years experience of chemical plant design engineering projects and start up and commissioning of plants
• Broad mechanical engineering experience
• Thorough knowledge in relevant tools like AutoCAD & PDMS
• Ability to travel 75 days per year
• Strong communicational skills at all levels
• Strong ability cooperate in teamwork
• Good knowledge in English, written and spoken
