Avalanche Studios is looking for a Lead Gameplay Programmer who will work on our upcoming AAA title Contraband - a co-op smuggler's paradise game set in the fictional world of 1970s Bayan. Contraband is a brand-new IP published by Xbox Game Studios.
As Lead Gameplay Programmer, it will be your job to collaborate closely with the project leaders and game designers to turn designs, features, improvements and other cool new ideas into manageable tasks that can be worked on by your gameplay programming team. To do this successfully, part of the job will be a managerial one: assigning work, giving input and feedback, performing reviews, making calls on direction and working with production on estimates and planning. You will also work in the engine yourself as a part of your programming team, developing and maintaining the systems necessary for designers to create missions, build complex gameplay mechanics and tweak and balance the Game
The team is moderately sized which will give you a great opportunity to influence the end product, while at the same time requiring you to push the boundaries of your discipline when needed.
Required Qualifications
Excellent knowledge of C++
Experience leading a team of programmers
Comfortable in very large code bases
A keen sense of fun gameplay
Knowledge of gameplay code and systems
Working knowledge of AI, physics, animation systems
Strong communication skills across disciplines
Beneficial Experience
Experience working with Havok Physics, Animation and AI
Experience with game design processes
Experience with Python
Experience on current or next-gen console titles
Experience in Games as a Service

Our Stockholm office is situated in Södermalm, the beating heart of the city's game industry. It's a physical representation of our games - the lush vegetation of Just Cause and theHunter: Call of the Wild meets corroded metal straight out of Mad Max.
