About our team
The Vehicle Dynamics and Active Safety team consists of 22 skilled, open minded and highly motivated engineers and we have the responsibility and mandate to mature technologies up to Technology Readiness Level (TRL) 6 for the areas Active Safety, Vehicle Dynamics and Vehicle Automation. We work cross functionally with resources across AB Volvo including Volvo CE and Volvo Bus.
The team within ATR has the focus to govern and lead the ATR technology Development programs, to perform R&D and lead projects within our area of responsibility. Examples of such functionalities are; Vehicle platooning, automated vehicles for on road or off-road use(e.g. harobour or construction sites), collision avoidance systems and other active safety systems, Driving assistance systems, Systems to improve the vehicle dynamics ? e.g. active steering or improved suspension and traction systems, functions building on vehicle-to-vehicle communication, monitoring of driver drowsiness and distraction, etc.
We build the technology development and feature roadmaps for our areas in collaboration with other commodities within GTT and we then execute the work according to the roadmaps. We typically work in the whole chain from requirement generation and concept design to function development, simulation, rapid prototyping, tests in prototype trucks but also in the later Product Development phases and projects.
Key technical competences within the team includes Simulink based function development, signal processing, vehicle dynamics control, environmental sensors and sensor data fusion, as well as data logging and complete system testing in trucks, buses and VCE machines.
We work in an international and multidisciplinary environment, where we collaborate both with other Volvo Group companies and with partners in the international automotive research field.
Position Description
We are looking for a lead engineer that shall take the lead in our development of our sensor data fusion platform. The platform merges, filters and fuses information from environmental sensors(e.g. Radar, lidar and cameras) as well as with IMU data, data from wireless links from surrounding vehicles, infrastructure, digital maps and selected ?targets?, likely paths and tracks etc for use in the application and decision algorithms. The platform is of key importance for our development of active safety and vehicle automation functionalities where our target is to be leading. The work includes to lead the development of the strategies and to assure the implementation, test and evaluation of the sensor data fusion platform and algorithms in various projects according to the strategy including outsourcing and partner strategy, but also to perform own development. The platform is and will be used in several different application projects (Active Safety and Vehicle Automation), the platform is developed in collaboration with internal neighbor teams and external partners.
Our area of work (Vehicle Automation, Active Safety and Vehicle Dynamics) is a growing area where the R&D efforts will continue to grow during the coming years which means that the room for personal development and growth will be good.
