Scania is now undergoing a transformation from being a supplier of trucks, buses and engines to a supplier of complete and sustainable transport solutions.

Scania is one of the world's leading manufacturers of trucks and buses for sustainable transport. Constantly improving the management of our engines and exhaust gas aftertreatment systems is a vital factor when it comes to staying ahead of the competition. To achieve this, we need constant innovation in respect of functions and working methods.

The engine- and aftertreatment management system is fully in-house developed, so as Lead Engineer your scope for influence is significant. One of the main challenges within the role as Lead Engineer is to find the best technical common way across all brands, markets and different applications. Taking consideration to cross-functional development while at the same time meeting the conditions that applies to the complete lifecycle of the product, from innovation to production and after sales, both internally within Scania and externally for our customers and partners.

You will join a small team of senior controls engineers where each person takes a big responsibility in identifying future needs within Scania and from our external customers MAN and Navistar. We are responsible for the organisations technical roadmap, and our objective is to guide the organisation in developing the best suitable products according to the roadmap. Our field of cooperation covers all areas within the company from concept development to production and aftersales aspects of the engine control system.

Your duties

As Lead Engineer you will have a central role acting as single point of contact between our development organisation, internal external powertrain customers. In the early phases of development-projects you will have the main responsibility to find a common consensus regarding technical concepts and product requirements. The Lead Engineer takes overall responsibility for understanding, discussing, compiling and balancing both internal and external requirements on the powertrain control system. Together with the engine controls leadership you will define new cross-functional concepts and clarify requirements that enable our organisation to efficiently develop the right technology for our customers.

You will together with two other Lead Engineers take overall responsibility of one or more customers such as MAN, Navistar, Scania Engines or Scania Truck and Bus. Based on the organisations technical roadmap, you will together with the departments experts lead the start-up of required cross-functional work in order to produce the management systems of the future for our engines and aftertreatment.

Your profile

You are a graduate engineer with experience of embedded systems. You have previously worked with technical development or a roll as leader of technical development. Your curiosity and technical know-how drives you constantly forward and deeper into the understanding of our products. It is not mandatory but we value experience within system architecture, development of engine- and aftertreatment technology and overall powertrain know-how.

The role as Lead Engineer requires well developed social skills and it's an advantage if you already have a large social network within Scania. You find it both fun and challenging to interact in deep technical meetings as well as in larger global decision-meetings. Your social skills and technical know-how drives you to take the leading role in technical discussions in order to find consensus and solving conflicts of interests.

As a person, you will like working with others and leading technical work as well as growing your contact network within Scania and Traton. You are positive, organised and have an ability to get to grips with details but still see the big picture.

You enjoy continuous learning, both on technical details and the big perspective, to maintain the broad knowledge required to be a good Lead Engineer.

You have a driving licence and are fluent in both written and spoken Swedish and English. Knowledge of German would be an advantage.

Previous experience of senior roles within technical development would be an advantage.
