Lead Engineer - Engine Transmission

The Engine Transmission group is part of Engine Engineering department which is responsible for designing, developing and verifying systems and components within the Combustion Engine area. The group is responsible for the engine transmission in all the current engines as well as engine projects. You will work with the latest technology in order to reach the future characteristics and requirements in a very exciting field.

As Lead Engineer, Engine Transmission you will act as system responsible for the cam transmission team in Sweden and China, a cross-functional team with 12 individuals, responsible for function, system and verification. You will also have the responsibility for the components and system design and be a key player in the designing and requirement of the engine transmission system. You will act as the group's contact person towards both suppliers and other internal parties within Volvo Cars. We are looking for someone who has a genuine interest and great technical expertise in engine or transmission dynamics, and who has the ability to drive the project and team forward. Main responsibilities

• Concept Design and system ownership over time
• Design and Status reports of engine transmission issues with regards to implementation towards project plan
• Leading team meetings with suppliers, purchasing and production engineers
• Controlling and leading supplier deliveries and implementation of specifications
• Plan the testing and verification of the transmission system at Volvo and at suppliers
• Defining component demands in the defined system solution
• Initiating and performing benchmarking reviews of engine transmission components and system solutions

Required qualifications

• Experience from Product development and Engine- or Transmission dynamics
• Master degree in Mechanical Engineering or similar
• Fluent in English (written and spoken)

Personal qualities

• High ability to communicate whilst making decisions with ease
• Great level of energy with ability to lead and motivate team members
• Meritorious is experience from an international working environment
