The department Electrical Distribution System (EDS) are responsible for developing the technical solutions for physical implementation of the electrical distribution system, the wiring and the wiring components, in all vehicle lines within Volvo Cars.
The group EDS components and CAE are responsible for components included in the wiring harness deliveries such as distribution boxes, cable channels and connectors, including the inlets for HV vehicles. They are also responsible for the CAE tools used by EDS' suppliers and for CAE support.
We are now looking for a Lead Engineer. The main responsibility will be the Electrical Vehicle Inlet (EVI) but you will also be responsible for tape, clips and other EDS components. You will work closely with the Electrical Propulsion System team (EPS) and the legal department to find solutions for high voltage (HV) charging and keep track of changes in the legislation for all available markets. The position also includes EDS component construction using CATIA V5. As lead engineer for the EVI you will develop a unique competence in a growing technical area. You will get the opportunity to work with new solutions not tested in the automotive industry before and gain a large network of people from different countries.
Main responsibilities
• Lead the work in finding new solutions for the HV inlet. The solution will differ depending on specific market requirements
• Handle issues regarding the HV inlets used today
• Keep contact with the departments for legal requirements for all markets
• Keep contact with suppliers and update specifications
• Take part in certifications for all markets
• Handle issues regarding tape, clips and other EDS components
• Design of EDS components
• Create drawings and models of EDS components using CATIA V5
• Keep contact with suppliers regarding updates and changes on designed components
Required qualifications
• University degree or equivalent in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
• Well versed in Volvo Cars product development process
• Fluent in English (written and spoken)
• CATIA V5 experience
• Teamcenter experience
• KDP experience
• EDS work experience is meritorious
Personal qualities
• Good communication skills
• The ability to cooperate and work within a team
• Structured with high analytical skills
