Why are we hiring for this role?

We are looking for a seasoned and passionate community expert who can use their extensive experience in the field to lead and grow the Expansive Worlds Community Team, in order for us to become a truly community focused developer and publisher.

What's the purpose of this role?

As the Lead Community Developer at Expansive Worlds, your role is to educate, inspire, and empower the Community Team to develop and nurture our passionate and supportive outdoor gaming community, in turn delivering value to our growing portfolio of games.

What are the key responsibilities?

• Direct the strategy and lead the development of Expansive Worlds community plans across multiple titles for the duration of their live services.

• Build and maintain the frameworks, processes and policies for the community team to successfully operate within.

• Collaborate with multiple teams across the division, sharing knowledge and insights that inform future strategy and tactics.

• Structure a community growth plan to ensure we're expanding our reach and engagement to new and diverse communities.

• Build and manage the community feedback framework in collaboration with the product team and customer support manager.

• Be an advocate for community led development across the company, sharing best practices and evangelizing your craft.

• Be a mentor to the Expansive Worlds community team through regular coaching and growth programmes.

• As part of the extended product team for a number of games, you'll share your expert knowledge of, and actionable insights from our communities.

• Responsible for managing the community team budgets across multiple games in collaboration with Product Marketing Managers.

• Advocate the brand across all community channels, maintaining a consistent and positive presence.

What type of person are we looking for?

You're a level-headed and highly experienced community expert who's battle-hardened from those experiences which helped mold you into the seasoned operator you are today. With ideally over 7 years experience, you're equally at home moderating passion fuelled debates on Discord along with sharing your extensive insight of building & maintaining healthy and diverse communities for multiple games through a strategic and thoughtful approach.

You love games and understand gamers enough to keep track of current and future trends in the market. Enjoying the outdoors like we do is a bonus!

How does the role fit in?

You'll lead the Community Team's strategy for a number of Expansive Worlds products, ensuring we build player centric environments for our players to engage with that are highly welcoming and inclusive.

As we launch new products and services, you will be responsible for guiding the team in their work, yet still be hands-on as you create new communities from scratch or grow existing communities around new, diverse themes.

Who are we?

Expansive Worlds is a creative division of Avalanche Studios Group and a leading developer and publisher of outdoor games. Since 2009, Expansive Worlds has been devoted to delivering highly immersive outdoor gaming experiences for millions of players and best known for the long-standing and successful Call of the Wild franchise.

We're a growing games publisher & developer, so your day-to-day work will be dynamic, exciting and rewarding. Your ability to be adaptable, well-organized and a detail-oriented person with an affinity for creative ideas and openness to change will set you up for success. This role comes with a lot of responsibility, freedom and autonomy - which we believe is key to growing our people and the business

Anything else worth sharing?

• The role is based at our HQ in Stockholm, Sweden, alongside the marketing team in a hybrid office/home environment.

• Some international business travel may be required (circa once per quarter).

• Excellent English communication skills, both written and verbal are a must.

• Previous experience at an international games publisher is expected, although we would consider adjacent technology or entertainment industries.

• Although not a line manager role initially, people management experience is a plus as we expect the role to take this on in the future.
