Internationella Engelska Skolan (IES) is a leading independent school group ("friskola") with academic results far above average and a diverse and energetic staff. Teaching is through both Swedish and English, with English the language of the corridors. English teachers:

IES is a leading free school with academic results far above average and a versatile and energetic staff body. We offer a calm learning environment where teachers can teach and students can learn. We have staff from all over the world, which brings us an interesting knowledge exchange and a mix of experiences.

Teaching is conducted in both English and Swedish, depending on subject, with English being the official language of communication amongst staff and students.

IES Tyresö is a school for grades 4-9 with approx. 940 students and a staff body of about 83 members. The school is situated in the south of Stockholm 20 minutes from Gullmarsplan metro station and a 5 minute walk from Tyresö Centrum. One of the bus stops is situated behind the school and we have access to a garage with parking possibilities for a monthly fee.

We are now looking for qualified English teacher for grades 4-9. The position is a parental leave substitution for a full Academic year.

Included in the work description, aside from common teacher tasks such as planning, teaching, marking and follow-ups, is mentorship for 16 students in one of the year levels that you teach. You have to be available for meetings with parents, students or colleagues and to actively work towards maintaining the IES Ethos and vision.

We need a clear classroom management and visible leadership during lessons and and open communication between teacher and students. Focus lies on learning and a calm environment and the schools routines and rules are followed by students and staff alike.

Our hardworking English Department, have high ambitions, a nice atmosphere and cooperation is the key to success. It is also the basis for creating a red thread through the grades to guide our students and help the reach their goals.

As a person you are flexible, a dedicated team player and have a positive approach to your subject which leads to you being creative and willing to go the extra mile for your colleagues and students. You have the tools to create a good learning environment in the classroom and your clear leadership and teaching style are the key to your students success. You can differentiate your teaching to reach different students and can work inclusively with different special needs students in cooperation with Student Care and Special Educators. Continuous feedback to students and parents with feedback on progress and needs for improvement is a must and has to take time and be a natural part of your teaching.

We are looking someone with a Teaching Degree / Bachelor of Education, feel comfortable with teaching students 10-15 years of age in an international work environment.
