The Unit for Academic Language (ASK) is responsible for providing, developing and implementing qualified resources regarding academic writing and language development in English and Swedish. The resources address students as well as staff and aim to support academic writing and language development instruction university wide. For further information, see

In accord with this, the unit is seeking to appoint one or more people who can focus on writing and language advising, as well as teaching English with a focus on English as a Second Language (ESL). The employment is mainly directed at writing processes in higher education, the knowledge-creating dimensions of writing processes, the functions of text-based advising and the design of teacher support and interactive environments. Applicants are expected to have some understanding of Swedish. Applicants are expected to be able to teach in Swedish within three years of the start of their employment
Job assignments
The duties include responsibilities for the planning, development and implementation of writing and language advising for students, which also includes teaching in English. The work done with students involves proposing and implementing advising and teaching material. The duties also include developing and implementing pedagogical seminars and workshops for university teachers. Work to be done independently or together with colleagues might include:
o planning and implementing language advising based on research and pedagogical practice
o contributing to the planning, implementation and development of material concerning academic writing and language development strategies in support of university teachers
o contributing to the planning, implementation, and maintenance of web-based resources
Qualifications
We are looking for candidates with a graduate level (second cycle) university degree relevant to the position. Teacher training with a focus on ESL as well as a Diploma of Higher Education. Considerable importance will be given to documented experience of working with university students on academic writing in Swedish colleges or universities as well as having developed pedagogical resources. We are also seeking someone with interdisciplinary experience where, for example, the teaching of academic writing has been integrated with teaching in a particular subject. Documented experience from developing digital resources and web-based teaching resources within higher education is also of major importance. The candidate should express a genuine interest in actively contributing, both independently and together with others, to the development of a competent, creative, responsible, and team-based working environment, which is to a high degree defined by collaboration with several different parties. Personal suitability will therefore be given considerable importance.
