ABOUT THE POSITION

The Development Advisor (DA) plays an essential role in the fieldworker's sense of belonging to MSF and MSF's need to build a healthy HR pyramid that fulfils the organizational needs of today and tomorrow. Therefore, you as the DA will be the fieldworker's focal point to support and plan his/her growth as a professional and an individual. You will also make sure that MSF has the right person with the right competence in the right place at the right time by aligning individual development plans to the needs of the organization.

This position works in close collaboration with other members of the Department as well as other relevant colleagues within MSF Sweden Office and the Operational Centers.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

• Facilitate individual and organizational development
The DA is the focal point for all fieldworkers to discuss their professional development within MSF and their professional growth in general. Such as perform development conversations, maintain regular contact with field workers before, during and after missions and give input to the discussion around the fieldworker's future potential.

• Participate in recruitment process
As a DA you will work closely with the Recruiter of fieldworkers, by assessing applications and participating in the Assessment Centre (recruitment process).

• Matching
As a DA you will ensure maximum number of placements (as set in pre-defined targets) whilst retaining professionalism and quality. You will throughout the fieldworker's career, facilitate the process of finding a new mission or job in line with his/her development plan and the organizational needs.

• Facilitating missions
Once the pool manager has made a proposal of a mission to the candidate and the candidate has accepted the mission, you as the DA will make sure the employee starts the mission in an efficient way, compliant to legal and MSF's regulations and procedures. As the DA you are also partially accountable for MSF's duty of care at departure, during and after the mission/job.

• Other HR Responsibilities
You are also expected to support/participate/co-own other HR projects in collaboration with colleagues in the department.

There is a great need for qualified Human Resources in our different missions and to fulfill the ambitions of our HR vision we have a vacancy out for a Development Advisor (100 %). The Development Advisor (DA) will support the placement and deployment of fieldworkers recruited from Sweden and Finland to MSF operations in the field. Currently this position is managing the non-medical pool, but that might be adjusted in the future.

OUR REQUIREMENTS FOR THE POSITION

• Further education and/or academic qualification in Human Resource Practice. Relevant experience (beyond 2 years) may compensate for the lack of education.
• Minimum of 2-3 years relevant working experience, may include (but not exclusively) recruitment, learning & development, coaching, other HR areas etc.
• MSF experience, minimum 2 field mission and/or extensive HQ experience
• Commitment to the aims and values of MSF
• Fluency in written and spoken English; Swedish and French an advantage
• Analytical and strategical skills
• Strong listening and interpersonal skills. Coaching attitude and skills (if not present yet, willing to invest in acquiring them)
• Exceptional organisational skills and the ability to prioritise and juggle a wide range of tasks in a reactive environment. Able to work and thrive in a fast paced, dynamic, challenging and team-oriented work environment. Flexible and adaptable to changing needs and priorities
• Good interpersonal and team working skills. Excellent communications skills combined with a 'can do' attitude

VALUABLE

• Swedish and/or French speaking
• University degree in HR management
• (Para)Medical background
