The School of Science and Technology is seeking a laboratory technician in organic analytical environmental chemistry for a fixed-term appointment.

Duties and responsibilities
The job description includes laboratory work and documentation thereof in the ongoing research project "GEF GMP2" funded by the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP). The work will focus on all steps of the analysis of POPs, especially perfluorinated alkyl substances (PFAS), in samples from countries participating in the UNEP/GMP2 project and the reporting of these results.

Qualifications
The candidate shall have a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry or equivalent degree. Fluency in English is required.

You should have at least two years of experience in working in a chemical trace analytical laboratory. The candidate should be familiar with the extraction and clean-up steps in processing abiotic and biotic samples and have demonstrated knowledge in the analysis using liquid chromatographs coupled to mass spectrometers (LC-MS(/MS)). Experience of PFAS analysis in water samples is an advantage.

You will be working in a modern LC/MS-MS within a team of researchers and students and report to the PI of the project. In our work, we aspire to deliver high quality data within a given timeframe and are looking for a candidate to work independently and aware of the project goals and quality standards.

We expect you to be flexible and open to change with the ability to assume a quality-conscious and responsible approach towards your duties.

Equality
Our ambition is to create a place of work that is characterised by gender equality and diversity.

Information
The position is a full-time fixed-term position for one year. The starting date is as soon as possibile.

The salary depends on the successful candidate's qualifications and experience.
