The material laboratory is responsible for the quality assurance testing of cast iron material, thermally sprayed coatings, chrome coatings and complete piston rings.
Your main responsibilities will be to:
• perform, examine and report metallographic analysis
• perform routine mathematical and statistical calculations to detect variances and verify production
targets. Support production in eliminating root-causes for variances
• carry out failure analyses
• control, calibrate and operate laboratory equipment
• develop new methods and equipment for material testing
• proactively identify opportunities for continuous improvement
• stay updated about the technological development in our field
Required Skills:
• Previous experience from working in a laboratory environment either from education or previous work.
• To be able to perform the routine work correctly and to comply with the strict working methods you must be structured.
• To systematically and thoroughly follow existing laboratory processes as well as propose process improvements.
• To work independently toward the team's targets and be capable of taking initiatives.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills are needed as you will be interacting with other departments.
• Good knowledge of technical English is required since presentations and reports are always written in English.
• Experience from a metallurgical laboratory is meriting, which can imply knowledge of e.g. tensile testing, Brinell, Vickers and Rockwell hardness testing, chemical analysis, microscopy, mechanical testing, wear testing etc
