The Department of Biology and Environmental Science include the areas of aquatic ecology, cell and organism biology, evolutionary biology, microbiology, environmental science and environmental engineering as well as zoonotic ecology. For more information see: Lnu.se

The position will involve assisting in several projects within the group including cell counts of phytoplankton, measurements of chlorophyll and water chemistry parameters, and investigation of microbial communities in Baltic Sea sediments. The work will involve microscopy, extraction of nucleic acids, and other general duties in both the laboratory and field.

Qualification requirements for the position are a minimum of an undergraduate degree in molecular biology, microbiology, ecology, biotechnology or similar subject.

Other assessment grounds that would place the candidate at an advantage include documented evidence of working within a microbiology laboratory as well as experience with sediment sampling and measurements, DNA extractions, and field- work. In addition, the applicant should be proficient in written and spoken English and have the ability to work independently as well as interact well in a research group. Finally, having a category B driver's license would be beneficial.

Terms of employment: The position will be 100 % for 4 months, with a possibility of extension. The starting date is as soon as the position can be filled. The position is located in Kalmar, Sweden.
