About the role
As a Laboratory Manager you will be responsible for the day to day operational management of a defined set of laboratories. You will be responsible for health and safety requirements and compliance, monitoring and maintenance of equipment and laboratory resources to ensure a safe and secure working environment. You will act as the first point of contact for all research staff within the laboratories. You will liaise AstraZeneca's Facility Management (FM) team, suppliers, senior stakeholders and scientists ensuring continuity of key technical services by measuring Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and adhering to Service Level Agreements (SLAs).

Key Responsibilities:
• Provide a collaborative approach to the operational management of the lab space.
• Meet regularly with relevant internal and external stakeholders to review new opportunities and performance delivery.
• Ensuring the laboratory maintains its operational efficiency by liaising with all FM suppliers. You will proactively identify and implement efficiency and process improvement.
• You will collaborate with internal service providers as well as external suppliers to ensure equipment is running effectively. You may also perform troubleshooting and performance checks on defined instruments.
• Work with the scientists to identify future requirements and new innovations in technology to further enhance scientific capability within the function.
• Create, maintain and update relevant documentation in support of service delivery, compliance and training. This includes reporting on KPIs, relevant metrics, SLAs and weekly tasks.
• Organize laboratory consumable inventories as well as assist in development of SOP's for various assays particularly focused on reagents/consumables and cost saving recommendations.
• Support the leadership team with health and safety compliance and identification/delivery of improvements. You will also participate in SHE or service audits and leads the implementation of actions.

About you
In order to understand the instruments and the scientists working in the lab you should have a scientific degree in Cell & Molecular Biology or equivalent. You should also have experience of working in a Cell & Molecular Biology laboratory environment, ideally with previous laboratory management or coordination responsibility. Knowledge of FACS/flow cytometry and tissues/blood handling is of great advantage. To enjoy and be successful in this role you should be a positive people-person, with energy and drive, who likes coordinate multiple tasks and finding solutions. Strong communication skills in English are key in this role. You need to be comfortable to take initiatives and make clear decisions in a complex lab environment. By nature, you are service-minded as well as you like change management.
