Pelago Bioscience is a company located in Solna which today has approximately 40 employees. We deliver target engagement studies to accelerate preclinical drug discovery and development to a world-wide customer base. We work with a mission to unleash drug discovery for better human health and focus on value in our partnerships. Pelago Bioscience is continually looking to improve the internal efficiency level and is therefore forming a new team around laboratory support, beginning with a Laboratory Assistant who will report to the Laboratory Manager. This role is offered as a permanent position (after a 6-month trial period).
About the role:
This role entails a responsibility for making sure our Scientists are provided with necessary materials they need to make sure our customer experience is at a top level. This means that you will be responsible for ordering all lab supplies, maintaining contact with vendors and suppliers, keeping track of orders and deliveries, stocking up consumables and keeping the lab clean and in good condition. You will in collaboration with your manager make sure processes and procedures are followed in the lab and that our Standard Operating Procedure's (SOP's) are relevant and up to date. One of your most important partners in the organization will be the Office Manager, who you will work closely with regarding facility issues, order deliveries and our purchasing system (Point Purchasing). You will also be responsible for being the back-up to take care of our reception phone when the Office Manager is unavailable. When you have settled in, you will also learn how to operate in our cell facility, where you will grow, passage and harvest cells according to orders from the Scientists.
Being a Laboratory Assistant at Pelago means that you will have the following responsibilities:
• Purchasing for the lab
• Take care of deliveries for the lab
• Make sure Point Purchasing data is correct
• Stock up laboratory consumables
• Take care of laboratory dishes
• Have knowledge of SOP's
• Back-up to Pelago's reception
• Cell facility operations
Your background:
We believe that you have an interest in working in a laboratory environment and that you preferably have done it or tried it before for some time. You don't require a higher education to be able to fit in to this role, your personality and attitude will take you farther. We will look for a flexible, cooperative, thorough and service focused person and we would like you to feel comfortable with collaboration and communication internally at all levels of management, have a sense for structure and administration and the ability to work according to set processes. We highly value a positive attitude and a problem-solving instinct. You are fluent in written and spoken English, Swedish is a plus.
