We are now recruiting a research scientist with experience in assay development and screening to the Department Screening Sciences and Compound Management, AstraZeneca, Mölndal. Preferred starting date is as soon as possible and the duration of the position is six months with a great chance of prolongation. Proffice Life Science offer permanent employment.
The Screening Sciences and Compound Management department in Mölndal is part of the Discovery Sciences organization in AstraZeneca. The department currently has 30 scientists working in two disciplines: Structure Activity Relationship (SAR) screening and Compound Management. Compound Management curates and provides chemical reagents in plate based and non-plate based formats. SAR Screening, where this position will be placed, provides plate based screening in various throughputs using a host of assay technologies to support drug discovery activities for the CVGI and R&I iMEDs.
Current positions are lab-based and involve delivery of high quality data from biochemical and/or cellular screening formats, propose experimental strategies, and troubleshoot problems in order to make a significant contribution to the practical delivery of projects.

Publiceringsdatum2013-01-22KvalifikationerWe are looking for a research scientist (MSc or equivalent education in relevant subject) with solid hands-on experience and knowledge within the field of assay development and screening (e.g SAR screening).
The following skills are highly desirable:
• Experience in protein and/or cellular screening
• Theoretical understanding of assay design
• Understanding of protein and/or cellular assay technology platforms and ability to troubleshoot
• Practical understanding of automation and its application to medium and high throughput screening
• Knowledge of detection technologies (e.g. absorbance, fluorescence, luminescence, radiometric and label-free)
• Understanding of data analysis and conversion of screening data to biological parameters
It is essential to have good social and communication skills and to be a strong team player. Candidates should be able to work independently, take own initiatives and have a positive, goal oriented and problem solving attitude. Good organizational skills are required and you should be comfortable in presenting your results. Excellent English is required, both spoken and in writing.
