Consultant assignment as Scientist in Protein Purification and Downstream Development
Do you have passion for proteins and enjoy the handicraft of laboratory work? Then you could be the scientist for us. We are now looking for a four months consultant assignment at Sobi!
Sobi is an international specialty healthcare company dedicated to rare diseases. Sobi's main therapeutic areas are hemophilia, inflammation and genetic diseases. Sobi R&D's mission is to develop and deliver innovative therapies that improve the lives of patients and their families. This position is placed within the section for Downstream and Formulation Development (D&FD) in its R&D organization. The D&FD section is responsible for purification of recombinant protein candidates for preclinical evaluation and to develop innovative and efficient manufacturing processes.
We are now looking for a candidate that can contribute with its experience in protein purification. This position is focused on laboratory work in a highly experienced and collaborative environment with elements of documentation and project team work.
As a Scientist you will contribute to develop downstream processes for production of biopharmaceuticals to progress projects from early to late development.
The position is based in Solna, Stockholm. Deadline for applications is 22nd of May 2018. We will interview candidates continuously so don't wait to send in your application. Start is as soon as possible, preferably early June and end at 1st of October.
Key responsibilities:
• Purification of recombinant proteins for preclinical evaluation (using ÄKTA chromatography system).
• Development of downstream processes for production of biopharmaceuticals.
• Planning and performing laborative work.
• Evaluating and documenting result.

Qualifications:
• MSc or equal in Biotechnology or related area.
Desired Experience:
• Theoretical knowledge and practical experience in purification of recombinant proteins with different chromatographic and filtration techniques.
• Experience in process development in a biopharmaceutical industrial R&D setting is a merit.
• Understanding of upstream processes and protein formulation development is a merit.
Personal attributes:
• Enjoys working independently in the lab, at the same time has a good ability to collaborate.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills in English. Swedish is a merit.
• Open to learning new techniques and expand personal horizons.
• Good problem-solving skills.
• Results-oriented, structured and energetic.
