hela Sverige Volvo has an ambitious product plan for new gearboxes, electrical vehicles and hybrid vehicles, and thus there is an important need for new test rigs or adaption of test equipment to support the product development.
As Lab development engineer for the transmission and electro-mobility laboratory, you will be the rig architect and / or the project leader for the major development projects, aiming at delivering qualitative, efficient, cost effective testing solutions.
You will both contribute in improving the 20 existing transmission and electro-mobility rigs, as well as developing the new ones. You will secure a common architecture between the rigs. You will work in tight connection with the product projects, in order to identify the requirements and translate them into a road map.
You will collaborate with many different areas: lab technical experts (softwares, acquisition modules, measurement equipment, testing methodologies, mechanical and fluids systems), product projects, product engineering, business control, purchasing, communication?
This mission is for people with a technical background in testing and automotive industry, preferably on transmission products, in addition to interest and experience in project management.
Scope of your mission:
Act as rig architect for the transmission rigs understanding the project requirements, translating them into rig specifications, securing common standards, and defining technical solutions.
Act as project leader or member in the development projects of new transmission test cells and upgrade of existing test cells, respecting timing, quality and costs contracted.
Choose the most efficient solution, involving suppliers in the pre studies, benchmarking, and working in close cooperation with buyers from Volvo.
Support the investment process. Order required equipment, prototypes.
Support the realization and commissioning of the projects
Perform a regulation watch and have close contacts with internal customers to understand the needs of new testing procedures or equipment
Generate ideas and pre-studies to improve efficiency, quality, reliability or quality demands.
Contribute in the global laboratory roadmap about transmission testing: identify the global needs for transmission, the equipment required, investments related to these needs, scheduling, location.
Actively contribute in the process development and continuous improvement in the team.
Required qualifications:
M.Sc. (or similar experience) within automotive engineering, physics
Experience in the transmission and/or e-mobility activities: in product development, test engineer, or lab development engineer
Experience as project leader or experience as team member in major projects: specifications, scheduling, budget, investment, reporting, commissioning, gates and steering committees?
Swedish and English, spoken and written
Experience of work with suppliers and subcontractors
Team minded
Able to provide a vision / a road map
Good knowledge of reading and understanding technical drawings.
Ability to write technical reports, documentation, protocols, procedures.
