hela Sverige We are looking for a lab technician to work in the group of Industrial Biotechnology, at the department of Chemical and Biological Engineering, division of Life Sciences. Research on microorganisms and enzymes performed by the Industrial Biotechnology group aims at actively contributing to the creation of the sustainable energy and chemical industry of the future. One of the important concepts for the achievement of this goal is the biorefinery, in which value-added products, chemicals, fuels and power are obtained by fractionation and conversion of biomass.

Job description
The work duties will encompass both general lab work to service the whole group and project related work. More specifically the lab technician will be responsible for some of the basic equipment, keep common stocks, assist in ordering chemical, consumables and smaller equipment, assist in basic microbiology duties, assist in fermentations, fermenter handling, assist in analytical tasks, determining biomass, running HPLC analysis, enzyme assays and work with the handling of lignocellulosic materials. Finally, the lab technician will assist in administrative tasks connected to lab work and assist in different organisation tasks. We offer a two-year position.
Qualifications required
We are looking for a person with good problem solving skills and ability to troubleshoot when instrumentation is not working optimally. You should have good organisation skills, ability to document your work and be able to make simple reports of performed work. Furthermore, we expect good ability to use the Microsoft Office package and computer-controlled instrumentation. We work in an international environment and it is therefore a prerequisite that you can communicate orally and in writing in English.
We are looking for a person with a BSc or MSc in chemical engineering or bioengineering. Candidates with experience with fermentations, basic microbiology techniques and HPLC analysis will be preferred.
