Symcel is a Swedish medtech company, based at Karolinska Institute in Solna. In our facilities we have sales, marketing, production and R&D.
Symcel is home to a mix of business drivers and scientists, all with the common aim to bring our technology to use for tackling some of the world's most acute health issues, including antibiotic resistance and metabolic diseases. We are a highly educated and international team of around 15 people, out of which 11 are full-time employees. Our work language is English.
We provide customers in academia and industry with a unique tool for real-time in-vitro measurements on cell metabolism, enabling a wide range of new assays for both basic research and drug development.

About the position
You will be part of the applications team developing novel microcalorimetric applications and assays within microbiology and cell biology as well as running customer projects.
This combination of internal and external projects gives a very stimulating experimental and scientific environment, where new questions and research problems are continuously discovered and discussed.
The role includes daily planning and execution of experimental work, evaluating and reporting results as well as general lab management responsibilities.
About you
We are looking for a skilled and committed lab technician. You are a structured, independent and analytical person with extensive experience in microbiology or cell-based assays. You like hands-on laboratory work, have strong organizational skills and
can adapt to the rapid changes and demands inherit to the nature of a start-up company.
You are also interested in learning a new technology and using your expertise to develop and optimize assays. You will be part of a team that works with development and therefore it is very important to be a good team player and communicate well with others.
Requirements:
Trained laboratory technician, biomedical analyst or with a Master of Science in biomedical sciences/microbiology
>5 years' experience in cell biology or microbiology lab work
Experience/interest in microbiology
Excellent technical skills
Meriting:
Experience from working in a medtech/biotech/pharma company lab
Experience in antimicrobial susceptibility testing, biofilm models, fungal assays or infection assays
Experience in working with in-vitro diagnostic applications
Handling of clinical microbiology samples
Experience from working as lab manager
