Engelska Skolan i Jönköping wants to provide its students with the best school food in Sweden ! We are now recruiting a chef / kitchen manager for our 100% brand new kitchen.
We prepare students for success in a safe learning environment where teachers can teach and students can learn. We are planning to expand our year 6-9 school in August 2010 and open our doors to students in years 4 and 5. The resulting expansion of the school means that we are now recruiting new kitchen staff to join our hard-working team in our totally new kitchen. At the heart of any good kitchen is an ambitious and organised chef with good team leadership skills.
Good candidates will have completed an appropriate education in running a kitchen and creating their own menus. You will be able to plan for and create varied, healthy and interesting food which is appropriate for school-age students. Special dietary requirements and allergies have to be planned for. In addition to planning the menu for over 300 students, placing orders and preparing the lunches you will also ensure that the kitchen meets all hygiene and safety requirements. You will also work to build a positive team that will together provide our students with the best possible food. We pay approximately twice the national average for our raw ingredients compared to other schools – however this is still a very tight budget compared to many non-school kitchens.
You will be closely supported by the school’s management team and economy department. You will work in a positive environment where your work is very appreciated. You will work in a brand new kitchen and have a great amount of input into how it works. You will even have the opportunity of designing and running the school’s student café. The school holidays (12 weeks per year) will be used to plan upcoming menus, take care of paperwork, receive training and to receive compensatory holidays for all the hard work that will go into the kitchen during the school weeks.
