At ABB, we have the clear goal of driving diversity and inclusion across all dimensions: gender, LGBTQ+, abilities, ethnicity and generations. Together, we are embarking on a journey where each and every one of us, individually and collectively, welcomes and celebrates individual differences.
Do you want to be part of our team and have a role as a strategic purchaser of components for our industrial robots? You will join an experienced team of about 10 people who are responsible for the purchasing of components for our production in Västerås, but have a lot of collaborations globally, both with our suppliers and with our sister factories in China and the US.
Your tasks are broad and you get to drive the strategy within your purchasing category, and develop our suppliers to meet tomorrow's requirements in terms of the environment, quality, delivery precision and costs.
You will alternate between different types of tasks, work cross-functionally and have the opportunity to travel internationally to visit our sup-pliers. We are also in the process of building our new 65,000 m2 Robotics campus, which will be completed in 2026. This journey will affect everyone at ABB Robotics Sweden. If you want to be part of a dynamic environment with a lot of change in robots and AI with your own focus on strategic purchasing, you are more than welcome to us and this position.
Your responsibilities
You are responsible for a purchasing category such as electronics, moldings and machining, cabling or switches.
Within your category, you are responsible for driving and implementing a local strategy, e.g. looking for new suppliers in Europe, implementing supplier changes, risk analyses and developing the existing supplier base.
You follow up the existing supplier base in terms of, among other things, quality, delivery precision, and lead time, and conduct cost analyses and commercial negotiations with suppliers.
You participate in new product development projects and are responsible for supplier selection for new components.
You maintain our ERP system (SAP) with the right information.
You negotiate contracts with our suppliers.
Cross-functional work both with other functions such as material planning, quality, R&D, logistics, but also globally with our other factories in China and the USA.
Your background
It is a merit to have 1-3 years of experience in purchasing, product development, quality or planning in the manufacturing industry.
Completed engineering education, preferably in industrial economics, purchasing, logistics or similar specialization.
Good knowledge of Excel, meritorious if you have worked in SAP or specific purchasing systems such as Ariba or similar.
You need to have your own drive, thrive with many balls in the air and take responsibility for driving your category forward. You should also be result-oriented, analytical, have good communication skills and thrive in an environment where you collaborate in a global context and with external suppliers.
You should be proficient in English and thrive in an international perspective with trips to our suppliers a couple of times a year.
