Work Description
We are searching for a Junior Scientific Expert for our client, the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC) in Solna.
Task:
• Support the work of EVD Programme (Emerging and Vector-borne diseases)
• Assist the EVD programme with the project management of two framework contracts (VectorNet and Guidance - data collection and scientific advice on tick-borne diseases). This task includes monitoring of the projects, close contact with contractors and review of deliverables
• Assist the EVD team with EVD surveillance activities
• Contribute to the production of advice and assessments related to EVDs
• The person shall be requested to perform various tasks including:
• Assist with the further development and implementation of surveillance systems in Europe
• Assist with the detection and assessment of emerging threats in the EU-responding to communicable diseases threats
• Assist ECDC experts in providing support to member states in responding to communicable disease threats
• Assist in monitoring and administration of ECDC-funded project
• Contribute to further development of external quality assurance systems and of other microbiological projects Support the units in the establishment of closer links between ECDC and national/international bodies, other relevant networks, partners and stakeholders
• Assist in designing and preparing training for Member States experts
• Perform any other tasks as required
You will get an employment as a consultant with Manpower. The assignment is to start as soon as possible and be made until the end of January 2017 with possible extension of 12 month. The role is for full-time.
Competences and experience
The interim will work in the Public Health Training Section on the area of Learning Methods and as a part of Training Network Strengthening Group shall be requested to perform various tasks including:
• Strong scientific or social scientific background (university degree in biology,medicine, veterinary medicine, social sciences, epidemiology or related fields)
• Knowledge of the field of EVD
• Good administrative and project management skills
• Scientific writing skills
• Presentation skills
• Ability to work in multi-cultural enviroment
• Education at university level
• Team working ability is crucial
• Excellent communication skills needed (written and spoken)
• Knowledge of MS Office
• Very good command in English, oral and written
• Good sense of accuracy and attention to detail
