At Purchasing, you are part of a global team with the mission to develop and maintain a world-class supplier base. Ensuring the supply of materials and services - at the right cost, quality and technology - is essential for the success of Volvo Car Group. At Car Purchasing we secure the source of all components to build our Cars; new car programs and cost optimize running production for all of Volvo Car Group's manufacturing plants. As a buyer you will be part of a team of 7-10 buyers lead by a group manager. The team is responsible to develop the supply base and commodity strategy as well as negotiate pricing with the objective to optimize cost and total gross margin for our company.
As Junior Product Buyer your main focus is to learn the buyer work and skills at our company. You will be responsible for running business contracts and manage administration of changes and orders for parts and investments. You will work in a close cooperation with more experienced buyers. The intention is also to in a timely manner take part of more strategic and tactical actions listed below, all to build knowledge and experience to grow in the role and enable new positions in the future.
Main responsibilities
• Drive resolution and establish action plans on part-specific supplier issues in running business
• Negotiate commercial and time consequences at suppliers connected to design changes in vehicle projects
• Negotiate and establish agreements
• Participate in cross functional teams with engineering, quality and manufacturing
• Drive continuous improvement activities within purchasing and at suppliers
• Frequent supplier contacts, day-to-day business
• Support development of supplier strategies and commodity business plans
• Support yearly commercial negotiations with the objective to reduce cost and price for the area
• Support raw material negations for the area
• Support supplier selections
• Work toward individual targets
Required qualifications
• University degree in business, engineering or equivalent work experience
• Interest in purchasing as well as technology and in making business
• Excel and power point skills
• Fluent in English, both written and spoken
• Driver's license
• Purchasing and/or project leader experience is meritorious

• Ability to independent drive and complete tasks
• Ability to work successfully in a team environment
• Structured way of working
• Analytical and problem solving skills
• Target oriented and high driving spirit to secure success for the team
