Hasselblad R&D is a collaborative department, comprising teams specialized in various technical domains: hardware, software, image quality, optics, mechanics, and QA/testing. Each team not only operates independently in their day-to-day tasks but also collaborates with other teams, as well as diverse locations and partners worldwide. About the role:
As an Junior Optical Engineer, you will be involved in every stage of the camera lens development process; from conceptualization to evaluation, testing, and measurement. In other words, you will be at the forefront of creating high-performance optical systems!
Key Responsibilities:
• Develop optical concepts and designs for camera lenses, working closely with customers and manufacturers to ensure feasibility and performance.
• Perform optical testing using various light sources, e.g. lasers and white light, to assess lens performance and characteristics such as color diffraction.
• Collaborate closely with mechanical engineers, software developers and electronics engineers to integrate optical systems seamlessly into the products.
• Utilize mathematical and physical calculations to optimize lens designs and performance parameters.

Qualifications:
• Master's degree in Physics, Data or Electrical Engineering
• Completed course in Wave Theory and/or Optics, Image Analysis or equivalent
• Flunecy in English, both spoken and written
Good to have, but not necessary:
• Fluency in Swedish or Mandarin, both spoken and written
• Familiarity with optical design software such as Zemax, Code V, or similar tools is highly desirable
• Hands-on experience from optical lab work would also be a benefit
