About the role As Mainframe developer at Volvo Group Digital & IT you will work with a future focused technology that is used by the biggest companies all over the world.
You will work with software development with main focus on programming different applications for the mainframe. Working with database management systems such as DB2 and SQL is also a big part of your job.
You will be responsible for maintenance and support of the systems with various tasks such as easy bug fixes and root cause analyses.
The main programming language used in this role is Cobol, which you will be learning on site. Java and .Net is also commonly used. You work with both frontend and backend developing depending on what applications you develop.
You will work in a team of 12 persons and have close communication with other groups within the Volvo Group.
Example of work tasks: *Programming
• Create new databases
• Maintenance and support of systems
• Understand flows in the systems
Requirements for the role as Mainframe developer: *Relevant Bachelor/Master degree
• Fluent in English
Meritorious: *Fluent in Swedish
• Knowledge in Java or C-programming
As a person you should be analytical and be interested in problem solving. You have mental flexibility and can easily switch focus if needed. It is important that you are interested in IT and like to work with people, as the role includes a lot of teamwork and cooperating with other functions in the company. We therefore see that you have good communication skills and high level of team spirit.

About the Talent Program The Talent Program within Volvo Group Digital & IT aims to give you, a recent graduate, a good start in your career. The program will last for one year, where you will have the opportunity to combine exciting projects with education so that you can grow as a person and develop your technical skills. You will attend the program together with people from other locations and thus be able to build a network internally.
You will be given the opportunity to develop both your hard skills (e.g., technical knowledge) and soft skills (e.g., self-leadership). The program will also include joint activities and digital coffee breaks with the other participants as well as an opportunity to exchange experiences with more senior colleagues within the company.
