SRK Sweden currently has a vacancy for a Junior/Consultant Geotechnical Engineer to join our team based in Skellefteå. The individual will work as a member of multidisciplinary teams carrying out studies in the Nordic region and internationally.
Work expected to be undertaken:
• Mining geotechnical and civil engineering site investigations and rock mass characterisation
• Stability analysis and optimisation of excavated or man-made slopes and underground mine excavations
• Mining geotechnical operational review and monitoring
• Preparation of laboratory testing schedules and supervision of testing programmes
• Contributing to project development studies from scoping through to engineering design as part of multi-disciplinary SRK teams
• Contributing to due diligence, third party reviews and competent persons reports
• Be willing to take on assignments related to civil engineering and/or waste/tailings dump design
• Working as part of multi-disciplinary SRK teams
• Representing SRK professionally and interfacing at all levels with the client's management and operations (and those of their other consultants)
Our clients include major/mid-tier/junior mining companies, financial organisations and governments.
Requirements:
The main focus of the work would be in the Nordic region and proficiency in a Nordic language is considered an advantage.
• Degree or equivalent in a Geoscience related subject preferably with a higher degree in Geology or Geotechnics (if not taken as a first degree)
• Ideally experience in mining and/or quarry management
• Effective organisation and time management skills
• Experience with other software packages, particularly numerical modelling software would be an advantage but is not essential
• Excellent report and proposal writing skills requiring strong English language skills (verbal and written)
• Strong communication skills
