Junior Scientific Expert to European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control
Work Description
We are searching for a Junior Scientific Expert for our client, the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC) in Solna.
Task:
The interim shall be requested to perform various tasks in the expert group focusing on Vaccine Preventable Diseases including:
• Contribute to - and support the work on establishing a platform for information sharing on the introduction of new vaccines in national immunisation schedules (cooperation with WHO Europe)
• Aassist the monitoring of the VENICE III project (a collaborative project between EU member states and ECDC covering immunisation topics) which includes budget monitoring, project progress monitoring.
• Assist in the follow up of the activities with EU member states on the introduction of menigoccocal B vaccination in Europe
• Contribute to the ECDC outbreak response activities, with a focus on emerging and vector borne diseases (e.g. rapid risk assessment, finding information, contributing to the reports etc.).
• Contribute to the different duties in the Epidemic Intelligence and Response section
• Assist with the further development and implementation of surveillance systems in Europe
• Assist with the detection and assessment of emerging threats in the EU-responding to communicable diseases threats
• Assist ECDC experts in providing support to member states in responding to communicable disease threats
• Assist in monitoring and administration of ECDC-funded project
• Contribute to further development of external quality assurance systems and of other microbiological projects
• Support the units in the establishment of closer links between ECDC and national/international bodies, other relevant networks, partners and stakeholders
• Assist in designing and preparing training for Member States experts
• Perform any other tasks as required
You will get an employment as a consultant with Manpower. The assignment is to start first of May until last of October with possible extension up to 12 months. The role is for full-time.
Competences and experience
• Experience in vaccine preventable diseases and in public health
• Team working ability is crucial
• Excellent communication skills in English needed (written and spoken)
• Education at university level
• Knowledge of MS Office
• Good sense of accuracy and attention to detail.
