SIPRI's Operations Department plays a pivotal role in advancing our mission of research and action on security, conflict and peace. The Project Controller is integral to the Project Management Office (PMO), which is part of this department, and the Project Controller is responsible for the financial and contractual management of projects, in close cooperation with the research staff.
Job summary
The Project Controller ensures projects comply with their contractual terms and manages them through their full cycle, from planning to closure. This role involves coordinating projects' needs, planning and monitoring programme costs, and maintaining systems for cooperation and coordination. The Project Controller also contributes to fostering a positive work environment within the Institute. The role of Project Controller is vital to the smooth functioning of SIPRI, and its contribution plays a crucial role in supporting our mission and objectives.
Key responsibilities
• Control financial progress of projects and ensure that projects comply with their contractual terms and the relevant framework
• Coordinate the contractual management of the projects (tenders, contract amendments, contracts with partners/vendors etc)
• Plan and monitor the research programmes' budgets
• Maintain and further develop the systems required to enable cooperation, coordination and institutional memory related to projects
Who we're looking for
Are you a sharp individual with exceptional organizational and communication skills who enjoys working in a structured environment? Do you have proven experience in project controlling and management? We're looking for someone like you!
Ideal candidates will have at least two years of experience in project controlling, contract management and working in a not-profit environment. Familiarity with international donors is a plus.
Proficiency in project management, Excel, budgeting, and project-oriented financial systems is essential for this role.
A bachelor's degree in Business Administration or Finance is highly preferred, but equivalent relevant experience will be considered. Fluency in oral and written English is a must.

Application details
The position is full-time and permanent, starting on a date agreed mutually. We apply a 6-month probationary period and individual salary setting.
