The Company

ITB is developing specific immunomodulatory biologics within organ transplantation and autoimmunity. The lead candidate drug siplizumab (an anti-CD2 monoclonal antibody) is in late-stage clinical development and has shown significant potential in transforming the life for organ transplant patients, by allowing the complete discontinuation of all immunosuppression treatment and restoration of a normal life.
We are currently seeking two qualified, highly motivated, experienced individuals for the position as laboratory scientists at our laboratory in Solna, located on the main campus of Karolinska Institute.
Summary Description
The work consists mainly of research within the monoclonal antibody area. The focus of the research projects relates to understanding the mechanisms of immune rejection in solid organ transplantation and autoimmunity, and how to mitigate and completely prevent such responses with novel immunosuppressive treatments developed by ITB-MED. The laboratory scientists will work in ITB's laboratory in Solna, collaborating with our experience researchers both internally in Sweden and the United States, as well as the extended external scientific network.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Design and implement research protocols and perform key experiments in the laboratory
Develop and validate new assays within the cellular and antibody fields
Interact and collaborate with other researcher in the laboratory and the management team
Drive scientific discussions
Present scientific data to the management team
Write scientific reports
Secure equipment maintenance and quality control
Collect and analyze research data, keep a detailed notebook summarizing experiments and recording research data, maintain computer database of research data, use graphics and statistical software to analyze and present data
Search pertinent scientific literature as needed
Write and publish articles in peer-reviewed journals that highlight findings from research and experimental activities ensuring consistency with the highest standards
Core Competencies, Knowledge and Skill Requirements
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Long experience from laboratory work using cell-based assays
Understanding of small and large animal models is preferred but not a requirement
Experience in developing scientific reports and presentations
Experience in handling confidential and sensitive information with the ability to exercise discretion and show good judgment: honesty, integrity, and trust
Daily demonstrates a positive, 'can do' and service-oriented attitude; detail-oriented with a commitment to accuracy
Ability to multi-task and shift priorities quickly while working under tight deadlines
Strong PC experience and demonstrated proficiency in MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Able to travel as required by business needs

REQUIREMENTS
Education
Minimum Bachelor of Sciences in a closely relevant field
Experience
Five or more years of experience working with R&D in a pharmaceutical company or at world-leading academic institutions.
