MAX IV Laboratory, a part of Lund University, has operated successfully for more than 25 years and is currently building the new MAX IV synchrotron facility in Lund.
More than 900 scientists from Sweden and the rest of the world are coming to the MAX IV Laboratory every year to use the x-rays produced by our electron accelerators. They do research in areas such as materials science, structural biology, chemistry, and nanotechnology. 150 people are currently employed at the MAX IV Laboratory. The MAX IV facility, the largest and most ambitious Swedish investment in research infrastructure, will be the brightest source of x-rays worldwide and will replace the existing laboratory, which today consists of the storage rings MAX I, II and III.
We are looking for a experienced IT Support Technician to be part of the development of our IT support function.

Dina arbetsuppgifter
As our IT Support Technician you are a part of the IT team consisting of 18 members of 6 nationalities. Together we are building the IT infrastructure for the new MAX IV site as well as supporting our existing laboratory. The role includes working both with office computers and with computers at the scientific experimental stations. It is special in the way that you will have to support computers with custom hardware and software installed. Your technical working domain will be infrastructure support, including laptops, desktops installed with Windows, or Mac OSX which are connected to central services such as mail, calendars, authentication and package management. You will provide additional support for printers and android phones.
Your main responsibilities will be to:
• Ensure the smooth operation of all office MS Windows and MAC computers and their peripherals at the laboratory, from installation to replacement.
• Participate in the support of the operation of computers at the scientific experimental stations.
• Manage the lifecycle of incident tickets from creation to resolution which are relevant to the IT support domain. When necessary, work with colleagues in the IT group for problem resolution.
• Preparation of documentation and guidelines for IT support processes as well as guides for users.
• Review workflows and processes within IT support and propose/make improvements in collaboration with the IT group.

Önskvärda kvalifikationer

We are looking for a person who has superior customer service skills, several years of experience from IT support preferably in an environment with instrumentation and an ability to quickly learn and understand new technologies in detail. You are going to work independently in a team of two so you have to be a team player who is self-sufficient, self-directed and curious.
We require:
• Strong Windows desktop/laptop experience and skills, preferably also MacOS and linux
• Knowledge of technical PC Hardware, experience and skills
• Fluent in English and Swedish and possess excellent communication skills

It is desirable to have a general ability to troubleshoot software installations and knowledge of configuration of Active Directory, network connectivity, installation and upgrade of software in a centralized and non centralized environment.
