The Program
At Essity, we see graduates as playing a central role in challenging the status quo, driving change, and making a positive impact on the business along with hygiene and health globally. Selected candidates will participate in a two-year Graduate On-boarding (GO!) Program within the Essity organization, with start in the autumn, 2018. The GO! Program provides a real job with a real development plan to give you a strong foundation to drive your development and career within Essity.
The On-boarding Program is based on relevant tasks, clear responsibilities and specific learning goals. This will provide participants with a deep understanding of the Essity global organization, technical knowledge, processes and tools, while simultaneously delivering concrete results to the business.
Focus Areas
The Essity Intellectual Property Department is globally responsible for all Essity trademark, design and patent activities and is strategically positioned within our Global Hygiene Category. Intellectual property rights are central in developing and maintaining Essity's competitive advantage across the globe and constitute an important building block in Essity's business strategy. On the Essity Intellectual Property Department you will be at the front, meeting competitors face to face on the legal arena.
As GO! Candidate you will start in a Patent Engineer position with the clear aim of becoming an authorized Patent Attorney. Through own efforts and mentorships; in time you will be responsible for managing a global patent portfolio, proactively support projects, support oppositions and defend IP rights. You will work in a highly skilled IP team, globally and in close cooperation with our Innovation teams, R&D and the Business units. Our teams are based in Sweden, France, Germany, USA and China. As Patent Engineer, you report to an IP Director. The GO! position is located in Gothenburg and includes service in a second country for a limited period of time.

Key focus areas for a Patent Engineer are;
Proactively and closely work with Innovation teams and R&D teams in order to identify and protect inventions that are of value to Essity
Perform competitor patent mappings and support in oppositions against competitors' patents
Proactively support the Essity organization globally with various patent matters
Promoting IP disciplines with stakeholders
Continuously study patent law in your strive to become an authorized Patent attorney
Actively support internal projects to increase efficiency and performance
Manage and drive the prosecution of parts of the Essity patent portfolio
Draft and prosecute patent applications and office actions
Your Profile
We find the GO! Program is a great way to start to use those skills you have learned and put them to the test in a real job with real responsibility, while you take the driver's seat in your development.
Obtained a Master's degree in Engineering such as Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, Information Technology, or equivalent achieved no later than 36 months ago will be a prerequisite
Excellent level of written and spoken English is required
Additional language skills are an advantage
Availability for traveling and relocating may be required
A curiosity and interest for Law
Enthusiastic, passionate and curious person who demonstrate the ability to be team-players who can contribute to our ongoing success
Work experience is not required, but appropriate internships are an advantage
