hela Sverige The Volvo Group International Graduate Programme gives you a unique opportunity to gain a holistic view of the Volvo Group and to kick-start your career through international assignments, work in different parts of the organization, networking, and professional and personal development. Upon completion of the programme, you will continue to work in the position you were recruited.
The programme runs for 12 months and includes a combination of common and individual graduate activities and day-to-day work at the home company. It consists of three weeks of common development activities at different locations globally, where the participants meet and network. Common activities in the latest programme took place in Gothenburg, Sweden, Ageo, Japan and Greensboro, USA.
The programme also includes learning activities in your home organisation and an international assignment.
During the programme you will participate in training sessions covering fundamental Group concepts, such as diversity, personal development, project management, cross cultural communication etc.
Position
The open position is within the Manufacturing engineering department at Volvo Group Operation EMEA, Umeå
Volvo Group Truck operations. Umeå is the global competence centre for heavy duty cabs and globally the biggest painted cab operation with a capacity of 75000 cabs per year. Within Manufacturing Engineering we have a highly skilled group of Die Engineers.
The Die Engineering group within Manufacturing engineering is integrated in the product development process to make sure that manufacturing requirements are considered already in early phases and that production processes development are aligned. Together with internal experts and external suppliers we form a team supporting the operation with dies for new parts as well as changes and improvements on existing dies.
Production set-up and production management is according to Lean philosophy and principles Volvo Production System (VPS). We work continuously with developing the production system according to this and as a Die engineer you are a key resource and competence in this work.
You will work in a dedicated team tending to every aspect of the lifcycle of a die from part design to end-of-life. You will handle long and short term issues in future and present dies.
Tasks would include:
Secure the success of the process from part design to try-out of new dies.
Handle changes in existing dies.
Update documentation.
Assure steel material specifications
Lead cross functional problem solving regarding material and dies.
Simulate different solutions off-line
Develop and implement corrective actions in running production.
Overall requirements:
Master of Science
Valid work-permit for applied country if not citizen
Excellent spoken and written English (Additional languages are given merit)
Maximum of two years previous work-experience after graduation
International experience is meriting
Additional competencies:
Catia V5 experience
Autoform simulation experience
Steel material knowledge
Education
1st choice: Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering
2nd choice: Master of Science in Industrial Engineering and Management
