Mission and Job description
Industrial Design Competence Center, IDCC, is the global in-house design firm for Epiroc. We are a brand driven design agency that specialize in: design strategy, product and service design within the physical and digital world of our customers, their customers and end users. We support our divisions in delivering value and meaningful experiences to the market.
As a member of our creative, motivated and talented team you develop new products that are used in the global mining industry. We need our designers to be versatile and passionate to take on new problems as we continue to push technology forward.
We are looking for two multi-disciplinary individuals who can bridge the gap between front-end development and design, support continuous improvements activities within the Interaction Design team and collaborate with the Epiroc R&D development teams. One of your missions is to provide front-end coding expertise, and be ready to make our products better for our customers.
Experience & knowledge requirements
- You have a Master/Bachelor of arts in Interaction design (e.g. interaction, graphic, visual communications, product, industrial), HCI or equivalent practical experience.
- Experience in designing and implementing complex UIs
- Good coding skills in different languages
To succeed in this role you need the ability to analyze and effectively communicate creative results and developing design strategic procedures and processes. It is considered an advantage if you have experience from construction or mining related industry, relevant work experience in Interaction Design and a strong Interaction Design portfolio. You also need to be a good communicator (English is our primary language). A good eye for spacing and typography is a must.
As an Interaction Designer at Epiroc you will have the responsibility of designing one or more of Epiroc's consumer facing/internal products and create a look consistent with all of Epiroc - while pleasing our users. We prefer you to have a decent understanding or exposure to engineering aspects of product development, excellent problem-solving and good Software and Hardware mockup as well as prototyping skills. You must be self-motivated to prioritize and manage workload and meet critical project milestones and deadlines and preferably have experience of designing outstanding digital products for a consumer-oriented company.

You have strong analytical skills, an unwavering commitment to quality, and a collaborative work ethic. You are used to meeting strict deadlines and you are a strong team player having the ability to work and communicate effectively in a cross-functional product development team and present ideas and designs effectively. You manage your own time, and work well both independently and as part of a team. You have excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to build good working relationships.
