Interaction Design Engineer

At RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT you will be a key contributor to the next generation outstanding luxury cars from Volvo. Together with other engineers over the world, you and your team will create innovative human-centric car technology that makes life less complicated and more enjoyable for people. As INTERACTION DESIGN ENGINEER within the group Interaction Design AE & Research you will be generating a user experience in the car, e.g. via interface- and interaction design for driver information, infotainment, safety- and convenience functions, and connected services. You will work in close collaboration with other interaction design colleagues, hard- and software engineers, graphic artists, prototype/simulation builders, attribute leaders and functional owners from different departments. The predevelopment projects you will be a member of are looking into the future solutions of a driver environment. You are responsible for creating concepts and solutions as well as requirements of how the user's interaction with a system or function should be conducted. This includes describing the structure of the interaction, and the user's input as well as the system/function output. This can be visual, audio and tactile.

We are looking for someone who has a keen interest in the customer and its relationship to the car and its features. As the role implicates a broad span of assignments with much freedom, you are self-driven, responsible and have an innovative ability to solve problems.

Job profile:

• Carry out global market situational analysis on Human Machine Interface (HMI), including technologies
• Define HMI and interaction framework and specifications
• Initiate development of HMI simulations
• Initiate reviews of proposed interaction solutions with stakeholders
• Develop the interaction strategies, taking the market penetration of the standard and or the optional in the car into account

Your profile:

• Technical university and at least five years working experience
• Documented experience in human-machine interaction
• Good knowledge in interaction design and UX philosophy
• Experience of Advanced Engineering and/or Research projects
• General computer skills and knowledge of MS Visio, Adobe Suite, Photoshop and Illustrator
• Capacity for logical analysis and problem solving
• Structured and attention to details
• Good knowledge of English (spoken and written)
• Knowledge of Flash-, Qt- & HTML5 simulation (Action Script 3, Java & C++, CSS, Webkit, Qml, Qt-events, Qt-signaling, Qt-widgets) is meritorious
