The Volvo Articulated Hauler is a clear market leader and a valuable asset in the Volvo product portfolio.
The open position is within the Manufacturing engineering department at Volvo Construction Equipment in Braås Sweden. Braås is the global centre for development and manufacturing of Articulated Haulers, a business in which Volvo is a market leader with very ambitious plans for the future.
The Manufacturing engineering department supports the total production process all the way from cutting of steel plates to final assembly of the complete Articulated Hauler and covers many different manufacturing processes such as laser cutting, machining, robot welding, painting and assembly. Together with our own prototype workshop and maintenance department we form a key partner for the total operation.
Our ability to develop and produce high performing and cost efficient products is of course crucial to the business and Manufacturing engineering play a key role. We are highly integrated in the New Product Development process to make sure that manufacturing requirements are considered already in early phases and that production processes development are aligned.
Production set-up and production management is according to Lean philosophy and principles (Volvo Production System VPS). We work continuously with developing the production system according to this and as a manufacturing engineer you are a key resource and competence in this work.
The work as a Manufacturing Engineer is really varied and challenging. Your work area and responsibilities will be either in fabrication, assembly or logistics, and can be adapted depending on your preferences and interests.
Tasks would include:
Develop and implement new or updated production processes
Design factory and workplace layouts
Search and evaluate new manufacturing technologies
Drive improvement activities in running production
Manage investments
Prepare production for new or updated products (production preparation)
Project management
The work environment in Braås is very bold and solution oriented and many tasks are performed cross functionally and always with good team spirit. Overall requirements:
Master of Science or Business Administration
Valid work-permit for applied country if not citizen
Excellent spoken and written English (Additional languages are given merit)
Maximum of two years previous work-experience after graduation
International experience is meriting
Additional experiences:
Experience from Manufacturing Industry and interest in Heavy Vehicles is meriting.
