Pushing boundaries for a sustainable future
Can clean-energy tech change the world? We say yes. Here's why. The way we heat our homes today is responsible for 15% of all of Europe's CO2 emissions. Switching to sustainable, clean energy solutions is the easiest and most impactful way households can play their part in net zero.

We are a next-generation home energy champion. We passionately believe that creating smart, sustainable homes is our way to make a positive impact in the world. Clean-energy tech is purposeful work. Urgent work. We'd love you to do it with us.

About the role

We are expanding our Cloud and Architecture team, which plays a pivotal role in supporting the cloud infrastructure utilized by our developers to build our product. Currently, we are establishing a new team under the leadership of our Director of Cloud and Architecture. This team will primarily focus on creating integrations and business applications that bridge the gap between the various systems employed by our business stakeholders and increases the level of automation in our processes.

As a proactive partner for our business functions, you will collaborate closely with them to facilitate the development of integrations and applications that streamline their operations. Your responsibilities will encompass the entire application lifecycle, starting from gathering information and requirements, all the way to designing, implementing, testing, and continuously enhancing applications aimed at boosting efficiency and productivity.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop back-end integrations and applications, designed with a strong focus on maintainability and correctness.
• Develop internal administrative tools to simplify manual interaction where needed.
• Actively collaborate with different business functions to understand their requirements and identify areas for improvement regarding efficiency and productivity.
• Collaboratively devise architectural design patterns and development strategies to enhance developer efficiency, prioritizing simplicity as a key principle.
• Continuously monitor and evaluate the utilization of the integration solutions, making iterative improvements whenever necessary.

What we would like you to have

To succeed in this role, we are looking for candidates who possess the following qualifications:

• At least 5 years of experience as a Java (or similar language) developer, including several years in a Tech Lead capacity.
• Proven expertise as a backend developer, with a successful track record in designing and implementing complex and simple greenfield integration solutions.
• A Master's or Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Proficiency in designing and constructing highly maintainable, modern applications within an open-source tech stack, preferably Java/Kotlin.
• Familiarity with DevOps principles, including experience with CI/CD pipelines, automated deployment, containerization (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes), and infrastructure-as-code (e.g., Terraform).
• Experience with cloud services, preferably AWS.

In addition, the following qualifications would be considered advantageous:

• Experience with or interest in functional programming and strong types.
• Familiarity with or interest in architectural solutions.

As an individual, you should possess the following characteristics:

• A driven, curious, and adventurous mindset, coupled with a recognition that it is acceptable not to have all the answers and a willingness to learn.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, enabling effective collaboration with cross-functional teams and stakeholders. Ability to articulate technical concepts to non-technical audiences (and the other way around!)
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to identify integration opportunities and deliver solutions.

What we offer

• Competitive salary

• Rewarding secondary benefits

• The chance to build a global company and transformative products

• Fast-moving growth journey making a positive impact on the world

• Supportive and inclusive culture alive with learning opportunities.

At Aira, We're not just champions of next-generation energy, we're champions in Diversity and Inclusion too. We believe that a diverse workforce sparks innovation and creativity and enables us to better serve our customers and communities. We encourage individuals from all backgrounds, cultures, and perspectives to join our team.
