GENERAL PRESENTATION
Läkare Utan Gränser, or Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF), in Sweden was founded by Swedish doctors in 1993. As a partner in the international MSF movement, MSF Sweden contributes to saving lives and alleviating suffering where we are needed the most, by securing stable financing and recruiting qualitative human resources to fit the needs of operations, and raising awareness of medical humanitarian crises among the general public and by provoking change for the populations we assist.
The Institutional Funds Responsible (IFR) is responsible for all institutional fundraising of MSF Sweden and the strategies that lead us to reach our targets. The IFR reports to the Head of Finance and works together with the institutional funds officer to realise our goals. The position is part of the strategic finance group and is responsible for our relationship with institutional donors (primarily Sida) on all institutional funds issues. A great part of the job is also to practically handle all proposals and reporting.
Specific objective for the fundraising area: "Increased, stable, long-term, cost-effective and ethical financing of MSF operations"
In order to achieve the objective, the IFR needs to make sure that MSF Sweden:
• raises optimised institutional funds according to MSF operational needs and within the framework of our institutional agreements in a qualitative way
• is involved in coordination of IF issues within MSF movement
• maintains the open dialogue with Sida and that the MSF Sweden added value as a strategic partner to Sida is evident in relation to insitutional funds
MAIN ACTIVITIES
Responsible for:
• All institutional fundraising by MSF in Sweden
• Developing and carrying out the overall institutional fundraising strategies
• Representing MSF Sweden in all matters concerning institutional funds, towards donors as well as the global MSF movement
In practice, this means:
• To identify potential new areas of institutional funds and increasing existing sources based on needs and opportunities
• To coordinate and carry out the daily work of institutional fundraising
• To maintain and develop the relationship with the institutional donors regarding institutional funds
• To maintain and develop the IF processes internally in MSF
• When necessary visit IF-funded field projects to follow up MSF Sweden's involvement
JOB REQUIREMENTS (Competences etc)
• Relevant academic degree
• Excellent administrative and reporting skills and an analytical approach
• Several years of experience of institutional funds management (Sida in particular)
• Knowledge of Swedish institutional donor policies related to the humanitarian field
• Knowledge of project cycle management (LFA preferably)
• Good understanding of humanitarian principles
• Fluency in Swedish and English, written and spoken
• Excellent user of common IT tools (including MS Excel)
VALUABLE
• Experience in internal auditing and finance control
• Knowledge of MSF operational work and policies
• MSF field experience or other international experience
• Knowledge in written and spoken French
