The Business Services Management (BSM) area is comprised of a global team that provides within Volvo IT a platform, processes, and knowledge to implement BSM and provide related services within the company. BSM is an industry discipline that ties IT Services and how they are managed tightly with our customers Business processes. It looks at IT from a service oriented perspective, and allows us, and our customers, to understand how Volvo IT adds value to their business and to manage the environment in a better way based on this understanding.
This position is within the BSM Core team. The BSM Core team works with Platform, Service Monitoring, and Application Operation groups as well as the BSM Services team to deliver these capabilities. This team develops and manages the environment which is composed of Monitoring tools, Event Reception tools, Integrations, and the BSM Platform itself.
The team is composed of members in Göteborg, Skövde, Lyon, Gent, Greensboro and Bangalore.
Job description:
The BSM Core team member will participate in the activities of the BSM global team. This team member will be working primarily with Netcool Omnibus/Impact.
The tools are mainly used for event correlation, enrichment and automation.
This team member will have an opportunity to improve our service management by helping to maintain and enhance Volvo IT BSM capabilities. This will be accomplished by working with other BSM team members to:
• Work on integration of BSM platform with monitoring and Inventory tools, as well as Configuration Information, Change and Problem management tools.
• Add functions to the system using shell scripts, SQL, Perl and other programming languages.
• Maintain and update the system with new releases and patches.
• Participate in problem determination and bug fixing in conjunctions with our vendors.
• Participate in team meetings, on call rotation, creating documentation, and handling Incidents.
Qualifications:
For this position it would be good to have experience in
• IBM Tivoli Netcool Omnibus/Impact
• Unix/Linux
• Networking concepts
• SQL
• Scripting: Shell, Perl, Impact and Omnibus rule writing
The general qualifications are that you have an adequate academic qualification and that you are a communicative team-player. You have to have the ability establish and maintain good relations and also have the ability to work in global, multi-cultural organization. You also have to be proficient in both spoken and written English.
