Your future challenge
These systems gather information from different sources and present aggregated information to operators in an operational picture. The system guides the operator to make the right decisions in the right situation. In the future these systems need to be more intelligent and be able to make advanced analysis of the data in the system. Complex event processing, or CEP, combines data from multiple sources to infer events or patterns that suggest more complicated circumstances. The goal of complex event processing is to identify meaningful events, such as opportunities or threats, to be able to respond to them as quickly as possible.
• Literature study to get a solid theoretical foundation of information fusion in general and complex event processing more specifically.
• Compare different methods for information fusion in a command and control system.
• Make a prototype integration of an existing CEP engine, e.g. NEsper, into SAAB's command and control system platform.
