Our team's mission is to support our colleagues and customers with multidisciplinary knowledge and we are guided by our team values; personal development, wellness and professionalism. The team consist of twelve engineers working with different areas within mechatronic integration such as mechanical contacts and joints, mechanical design, automatic control, simulation, sensor fusion and embedded software. As a team we are proud that we always help each other, continuously finds better ways to do things and that we try to understand our customers' operation needs as well as always helping our customers. We need to learn more about state-of-the-art automatic control methodology and will expand the team with a new industrial Ph.D.-student.

As an industrial Ph.D.-student you will also join the Atlas Copco Industrial Research School, where you together with your peers will train to be prepared for a carrier as industrial researcher at Atlas Copco after your dissertation.
About the job
You will join the Tightening technique team at Atlas Copco and the Driveline research team within LINK-SIC (Linköping centre for sensor informatics and control) at Linköping University. Your research will focus on developing model predictive control strategies for our tightening tools in order to improve the ergonomics, the product-ability, the process quality and the energy efficiency of the operations. The model will have a high degree of uncertainty and one important task will be to develop methodology of how to use system identification to update the model to be used in the MPC-algorithm.
It is important to understand that this role requires extensive travel between Stockholm and Linköping. During the first years of Ph.D.-studies, you are expected to visit Linköping twice a week. You will also be attending international scientific conferences once or twice a year.
What you need to succeed
We are looking for an engineer with a M.Sc. in engineering physics or mechatronics. As a person, you are a true team player with a "can-do" attitude, easy to interact with as well as eager to learn. You are self-organized, committed and customer focused.
