II-VI is looking for a Senior Design Engineer to join the Component Design Team in Järfälla, Stockholm. If you have great problem solving skills and have a natural curiosity, this is the position for you.

Your Responsibilities
* Contribute to roadmap and planning for new products/platforms
* Customer and research institute/university interaction to understand market needs, new possibilities and best practices - actively seek information and keep updated on new technologies and the competitive space
* Develop and specify new PIC features/building blocks from a common platform perspective - selecting the most suitable technology platform and technical solutions - this in close collaboration with process integration team
* Participate in the design process product development projects, and contribute with design solutions
* Take on the expert role in assigned projects - mentor other members of the design team as well as other functions in the organization.
* Participate in performance requirement reviews and contribute to the drafting of product specifications.
* Communicate technical status and reveal technical gaps
* Actively contribute to product and technology improvement, including for products or processes in production
* Produce relevant technical documentation to support building and securing the knowledge base / know-how in the company, product development, improvement of existing products, or product application
* Inform and guide management teams on decisions that need to be made
* Submit PIDs to protect company 's technology and inventions
The Bigger Picture
You will become part of a competent team consisting of nine engineers and you will report to the Manager Component Design and Simulations. The job requires working on site, in a test lab with requirements on cleanliness and ESD control, and for a fraction of the time in a clean room environment.
Our Expectations
We 're looking for you with a broad technical competence in the fields of optoelectronic devices and technology, high-speed electronics, communication technology and Test and Measurement (T&M). You have deep expertise in specific areas in the fields of optoelectronic devices, RF and communication technology, high frequency / RF measurement techniques. You have a MSc or PhD with several years of professional experience in optoelectronic, semiconductor or electrical engineering. Since you will be a part of an international company, very good knowledge in English, spoken and written, is a requirement for the position. Knowledge in Swedish is an advantage.
Personality-wise you are independent and good at taking initiatives. You are a competent problem solver with the ability to communicate. If an obstacle occurs that you don 't find your way around, it comes natural for you to get in contact with others to advance the problem solving process. You are good at cooperating with others and enjoy being part of a team where you have daily interaction with others.
