HW Engineer - Climate Electronics

Climate System department is responsible for all climate development within Volvo Car Corporation, e. g. heating, ventilation, AC systems, controls and attributes. Climate system department is part of Body&Trim unit within Volvo Car Group's Research and Development (R&D) division. Currently we are around 80 people divided into 4 groups. This position is within the A/C & AUX heater systems group. We are within the group today about 18 colleagues divided into two main teams, A/C systems and AUX heater systems. We are of different ages, backgrounds and experiences with open discussions and good fellowship among the teams.

As HW Engineer - Climate Electronics, together with SW engineers and assignment leaders, your responsibility is to run and secure all electrical component development, such as fuel operated heater, electric heaters and electric compressors, within climate department towards requirements, project timing and cost, in all types of projects. You will be planning, ordering and sometimes performing your own testing, which may require working outside of office hours. You may also be required to lead assignments by your own and participate in test trips both within Sweden and abroad, although participation will be planned and agreed beforehand. As hardware engineer for the group you will also handle the system safety engineering role, following the ISO 26262 standard.

Main responsibilities

• Develop and secure supplier electric hard ware specifications and design to match Volvo Car Group's system requirements and functionality
• Support analyses of field quality issues and suggest corrective actions
• Act as the group's system safety engineer according to ISO 26262
• Monitor supplier progress on development and verification of VCC electrical requirements and compability towards the mobile electrical system architecture
• Analyse test results and drive for required design changes
• Lead all system safety activities and secure all required documentation towards ISO 26262
• Analyse customer feed back and benchmarking in order to improve current and future product
• Own and create specifications for the electric HW components used in the climate system

Required qualifications

• B.Sc. degree within electronics
• Master's degree within electronics, physics, mechatronics or similar
• Experience of electric hardware development
• Experience from automotive industry and climate systems is meritorious
• Knowledge of in-vehicle diagnostics and tools is meritorious
• Knowledge of ISO 26262 is meritorious
• Experience from design and development, together with suppliers and quality assurance of electrical HW is an asset
