Scania is now undergoing a transformation from being a supplier of trucks, buses and engines to a supplier of complete and sustainable transport solutions.

Scania's R&D leadership have identified six areas of strategic importance to the future of the organization. One of these areas is Human Factors. To fulfil the Human Factors strategic roadmap, Scania's Research Office (YRR) is seeking to recruit an experienced Human Factors or Cognitive Engineer that can support the shift towards a systems-oriented approach to interaction and user experience design.

Who we are
Research & Innovation is responsible to drive, coordinate and communicate research and innovation within R&D. The department is responsible for Scania's internal strategy and process. R&I office also supports the line organisation with external research funding and academia and industrial partnership.

Work Assignment
Scania develops a range of products with which various users interact. Interaction Designers, Services Designers, Ergonomists, and a variety of other expertise related to the user experience are distributed to product teams throughout the organization. For the current assignment, a key role will be to investigate and support research initiatives that impact users across these different product development groups.

You will be expected to support in understanding how our users interact with a variety of transport system related products and to design solutions that optimize overall system performance considering safety, efficiency, sustainability, as well as the quality of the user interaction.

You will be expected to take a Human Factors or Cognitive Engineering approach to understanding and designing solutions for the human role in future transport systems. Analysis and solutions should consider the tasks, jobs, products, environments and structure of transport systems in order to make them compatible with the needs, abilities and limitations of people.

As part of the research organization, you will be expected to look beyond existing products, services, and systems, and instead, design the future possibilities.

Your Profile

You have a master's degree or PhD in Human Factors, Cognitive Engineering, or similar discipline. Practical experience with Human Factors or Cognitive Engineering methods for understanding and designing solutions for complex systems (e.g. CWA, CDM, HTA, STAMP, TRAM, EAST) is required. You also have practical experience at managing projects (especially advantageous if externally funded research projects).

Experience or interest in transport sector is preferred. An interest in VR, Simulation, and simulation based product development is advantageous. It is also preferrable if you are interested in emerging technology and/or systems complexity.

You are team player who has the ability to collaborate with various stakeholders.
