hela Sverige The Outbound Logistics function is to ensure a global strategic approach on outbound logistics by integrating strategy, network design, procurement, performance management and operational development to ensure that factory complete cars are delivered to dealers on time at minimum cost and according to specifications in line with market requirements and Volvo Car Corporation ( VCC) strategy.
The role, Head of Strategy, is located within the Outbound Logistics organization and will report directly to the Head of Outbound Logistics.
The purpose of the Head of Strategy role is to manage, coordinate and define the long term strategy, risk mitigation plans and the overall network design for Outbound Logistics to ensure that the strategy is aligned to the overall VCC strategy.
Main tasks for the Head of Strategy are to;
Initiate, plan, prioritize and coordinate activities performed within the Outbound Logistics function related to setting and updating VCC:s strategy, risk mitigation plans as well as reviewing and optimizing the Outbound Logistics network design
Suggest performance targets and KP:Is for Outbound Logistics including definitions and target levels linked to the overall strategy (e.g. delivery precision, cost targets, environmental targets etc.)
Communicate and align strategy, network and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) with relevant internal and external parties
Manage and prioritize network optimization work and coordinate with Logistics procurement to support in tendering
Align and set network design criteria based on input from Operational Development and Logistics Procurement and findings from network optimization work
Align IT strategy to overall strategy and business requirements together with Head of Performance Management and Operational Development
Regularly gather and review external requirements related to Outbound Logistics including legal requirements, and input from the Market organization
Identify potential risks, assess probabilities and potential impact of the risk, and plan risk mitigation
Project manage large change programs and projects related to Outbound Logistics across functions, including major changes effecting VCC operational activities linked to Outbound Logistics
Gather data related to long term capacity needs from Markets and Manufacturing as input for strategy and optimization work
Develop business plan for Outbound Logistics in line with overall strategy and VCC requirements
Participate in New car programs to identify logistics requirements, assess impact on existing logistics network and lead evaluation of alternative transport setups
The Head of Strategy is responsible to ensure that:
The global strategy for Outbound Logistics is set in line with VCC's global strategy and communicated with relevant internal and external parties
KPIs for Outbound Logistics are set, defined and regularly updated (e.g., yearly)
The network is continuously reviewed, challenged and optimized in line with the overall strategic direction for Outbound Logistics
The operational strategy, defining which transport related services that are carried out and by whom (e.g., PDI, yard management, port processing) is reviewed and in line with the overall strategic direction for Outbound Logistics
Risks related to Outbound Logistics are identified and mitigated
The business plan for Outbound Logistics is developed and updated according to specified intervals
Legal, environmental, safety and customs requirements are met
