We are looking for a communicative and collaborative leader with good knowledge and experience of aviation and aircraft systems. A manager that is people oriented with the ability to enthusiasm and motivate the team.

Your role

Within the department Special Mission and Regional Aircraft (SMRA) the area Design Management and Airworthiness has the responsibility for overall design work, configuration management, certification, continued airworthiness and design organisation approval, with competences in areas below:

* Chief Engineers
* Head of Airworthiness Office
* Airworthiness Engineers
* Head of Maintenance Program
* Fleet Monitoring
* Configuration Management

As Head of the area Design Management and Airworthiness you will be an important member of the department Management Team. Your area consists of about 40 employees and you have 2-3 managers reporting to you. The position is based in Linköping, Sweden.

Your challenge as a manager will be to understand how the different parts fit together to create the big picture where we develop, procure/build, modify, test, certify and deliver complete aircraft systems as well as support aircraft operators for the GlobalEye, the Saab 340 and 2000.

Some of the work is performed as support to aircraft operators around the world but most work is performed in large projects together with other units within Saab and, as a manager, you need to create and uphold good relations with these.

The main tasks are:

* Managing and supporting an area of about 40 employees including 3 sections
* Member of the Special Mission and Regional Aircraft management team
* Develop and uphold good cooperation with all parts of the department as well as other units within Saab
* Personnel responsibility for the area including coaching, feedback, goals and development of individuals and team
* Responsibility for recruitments, communication and information
* Responsibility for cost centre budget and result

Your profile

We are looking for a senior manager with documented experience as a manager with staff responsibilities and experience from the aviation industry. We put great emphasis on personal characteristics for this role and in securing a high performing, cooperative and communicative management team for the department.

You will be an important part of the Management Team for SMRA which is a part of the business unit Aviation Services within the business area Aeronautics.

SMRA consists of about 280 employees mainly placed in Tannefors, Linköping. But we also have people in USA and other countries where customers operates our aircrafts. We are an integrated part, responsible for the aircraft platform, of the programs for Special Mission Aircrafts, such as the GlobalEye system, and we have the direct contract responsibility for our civil Saab 340 and 2000 aircraft operators and owners.
