We are looking for an engaged, driven leader with a strong software interest to lead our Sensor Software department. Here, you'll have a key role in transforming the defense industry to become more intelligent through an enhanced emphasis on software solutions!
Your role
The department Sensor Software is responsible for software application development for signal & data processing as well as customer specific embedded design in our radar sensors. The unit consist of nearly 100 highly skilled and devoted employees working in the areas of system design, implementation, integration and verification.
As Head of Sensor Software, you will lead the organization and the seven managers reporting to you. You will be over all responsible for the unit in terms of projects deliveries, budget, employee wellbeing, strategic development and resource and competence planning. Emphasizing collaboration, empowerment and common vision will be important factors in the role. This requires thoughtful leadership, making your role highly significant with extensive opportunities to leave your mark and make a difference.
You will lead and participate in a software transformation journey, aiming for more efficient and smarter automated processes in our software value stream. This involves deepening our expertise in standardized workflows, CI/DC and automated test processes. At Saab, we focus on what is best for the product and quality always transcend quantity, even as we strive for increased efficiency.
You will be part of the Surface Design management team and report to the Head of Surface Design. In our management team all members contribute with their individual experiences and skills to create a collaborative yet dynamic environment. You will work with your individual area of responsibility but also interact and support other units' challenges to ensure we reach our common goal to design, develop and deliver world class surface sensor solutions.
Your profile
We are seeking an individual with passion for software development and a strong belief in the competence and commitment from our employees. As a manager, you demonstrate communicative leadership skills to foster commitment and energy within the organization. Surface Design is on a strong growth journey, and as a leader, you drive continuous improvements as well as identifying new operational opportunities to enable growth. We are looking for someone with competence and experience in the majority of the following areas:
* Experience leading teams in software development, signal data processing and/or embedded design
* Experience leading and coaching other leaders
* Experience with Agile methodology
* Skills to combine strategic thinking with operational actions
* Strong business understanding and customer focus
* Strong drive and ability to generate energy
It is meritorious if you have previously led a change journey, scaled up an operation, or previously undertaken the journey of the next step in automating software workflows.

Surface Sensors Solutions is a Business Unit within Saab Surveillance that has more than 1000 employees globally; with center of gravity in Sweden, USA and UK. The business unit provides ground-based and naval radar and electronic surveillance solutions, with the responsibility to develop the Surface Sensor portfolio and execute projects to the highest standard.
