The Outbound Logistics function is to ensure a global strategic approach on outbound logistics by integrating strategy, network design, procurement, performance management and operational development to ensure that factory complete cars are delivered to dealers on time at minimum cost and according to specifications in line with market requirements and VCC strategy.

The role, Head of Performance Management and Operational Development, is located within the Outbound Logistics organization and will report directly to the Head of Outbound Logistics.

Purpose:

The purpose of the Head of Performance Management and Operational Development role is to manage and coordinate performance management and operational development related to Outbound Logistics within VCC. He/she ensures that performance is being tracked against Key Performance Indicator (KPI) targets and that performance gaps are acted upon with concrete measures. In addition, he/she ensures continuous improvements of quality and cost reductions.

Main Tasks:

Main tasks for the Head of Performance Management and Operational Development are to;

Initiate, plan, prioritize and coordinate activities performed within the Outbound Logistics function related to performance management, operational development and IT
Manage and allocate personnel and resources to prioritized projects and activities, including IT related topics
Track gaps to KPI targets and propose measures to close gaps and ensure that measures are implemented
Regularly coordinate activities, update and gather input on current performance along defined KPI:s from relevant functions within VCC (e.g., National Sales Companies and MP&L)
Define standard reporting formats and procedures to provide transparency on Outbound Logistics performance to Head of Outbound Logistics and the EMT
Participate in relevant forums related to performance management and operational development to ensure cross-functional and efficient process development work

Responsibility:

The Head of Performance Management and Operational Development is responsible to ensure that

Gaps to KPI targets are measured and tracked including regular reporting in transparent formats
Measures to close the performance gap are defined and implemented in cooperation with logistics providers
Continuous development and improvements related to Outbound Logistics are carried out both within the internal organization and together with providers
Processes and standard operating procedures are defined and in line with the overall strategy for Outbound Logistics
The IT strategy for Outbound Logistics is updated, set and aligned with relevant stakeholders
Outbound Distribution Audits are performed and results acted upon
Requirements for transportability are communicated to New car program
The Head of Performance Management and Operational Development is also the application owner for logistics systems and should also participate in relevant internal and external forums.

Competence requirements:

Master of Science or equivalent academic degree
Documented leadership experience
Experience from logistics, driving change projects or equivalent
Strong leadership and communication skills
Strong analytical and problem solving skills
Project management skills
Comfortable working with individuals at all organizational levels
Broad knowledge within outbound logistics including; TMS systems, carrier operations, shipment routing, distribution methods, yard management, process improvement, performance follow-up
