Group Strategic Initiatives is a Group Function driving and managing the key strategic priorities and initiatives for the Volvo Group based on trends shaping the future of transportation and transformation of our company, the transport industry, and society at large.

Group Strategic Initiatives consists of Group Strategy, M&A and Partnerships, Volvo Group Venture Capital, Group India Office, Group China Office, and Group Japan Office.

We are now looking for a Head of M&A and Partnerships

M&A and Partnerships is a new unit that will be established to capture business opportunities and drive change. The team will have strategic, finance and legal competence in a 'stable team' concept.

As Head of M&A and Partnerships, in close collaboration with Group Strategy, and on behalf of Volvo Group CEO, ExBoard and Group Management, you will identify Group growth areas, evaluate, structure, and execute M&A deals with all related cross-functional aspects and work to secure the Volvo Group becomes best-in-class when it comes to creating/maintaining/monitoring and terminating partnership relationships in good faith.

Together with your team you create, assess, monitor and drive the overall M&A and partnership agenda for the Volvo Group.
You will lead a team of professionals and you have strong leadership skills and a strong interest in people development. You and your team efforts will influence the overall strategic M&A and partnership planning and execution impacting the Volvo Group business development on a global level.

Main activities and responsibilities

In a close collaboration with, and on behalf of Volvo Group CEO, ExBoard and Group Management, the Head of M&A and Partnerships should be the active driver of the M&A and other selected strategic partnerships agenda/development for the Volvo Group. You secure a robust, effective, and efficient partnership assessment tool as well as facilitate the Group defines, creates, and monitors strategic partnerships in a best-in-class manner. Together with your team you manage post-merger integration if/as applicable.

Under your leadership a solid Group overview and evaluation framework of existing partnerships is established and regularly updated as well as a Group M&A transaction pipeline and plan. Furthermore, you and your team will define a framework and approach for where, when, and how to create, operate and close strategic partnerships.

Trustful and close relationships with internal and external stakeholders is of outmost importance. You will collaborate with CFO/Group Finance to develop a capital plan in line with the organization's strategy, investment policies, and fundraising plans as well as Group Communications to convey related messaging throughout the organization internally and externally.

Thanks to you and your team Volvo Group management have a continuous overall M&A and partnership awareness and organizational readiness to meet changes in the outside world in due time.

Critical competencies for the position

The preferred candidate has a Master 's degree and/or an MBA in relevant financial field(s) combined with Project Management training and/or experience and a solid senior leadership experience working on growth, business- and people development, strategy, planning or related issues in a global, multicultural company and environment.

Over the years you have gained an extensive leadership experience with a proven management capacity from leading M&A transactions and/or partnerships. You have a high level of knowledge about the business drivers in the commercial vehicle industry and how strategies play out to guide actions.

Furthermore, you have a solid experience in setting priorities with cross-functional stakeholders and complex organizations.

To be successful in this position you have an excellent ability to analyse and synthesize complex matters - and lead cross-Group efforts to achieve both results and growing people whilst doing so. Thanks to your background and experience you are skilled at identifying trends and developments that could result in strategic opportunities for the Group.

You are known for your excellent communication, networking and collaboration skills providing timely and helpful information to others across the organization. You possess excellent English written and oral communication skills, with the ability to represent the organization externally across a wide range of stakeholders.

Your value-based leadership skills with high integrity and a strong DEI commitment are well-proven

Others would describe you as a strong relationship builder with the ability to find common ground, build consensus and strengthen the collaboration among diverse stakeholders.
