We are looking for a Head of Global Technical Service to join our ImmunoDiagnostics Division (IDD), which develops, manufactures, and markets blood test systems to support the clinical diagnosis and monitoring of allergy, asthma and autoimmune diseases. With 1,500 employees worldwide, IDD is the global leader in in-vitro allergy testing and also the European leader in autoimmunity diagnostics. The allergy and autoimmunity product lines operate on a common instrument platform, Phadia Laboratory Systems, which supports both productivity and cost efficiencies in clinical laboratories around the world. The leading products of the ImmunoDiagnostics Division include ImmunoCAP for allergy and asthma tests and EliA for autoimmunity tests.
In order to secure the functionality of Phadia Laboratory Systems installed at customer sites and company internal sites, the Global Services group support Field Service Engineers and Application Specialists at IDD subsidiaries and distributors worldwide. As the Head of Global Technical Service you will manage a team of six senior service professionals and report directly into the Director for Global Services. You and your team will play a key role in ensuring commercial success for Phadia Laboratory Systems by supporting Field Service Engineers to deliver world class Technical Service to IDD customers worldwide. Thus increasing customer satisfaction and driving service revenues.
YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Develop and maintain up to date IDD Technical Service documentation such as Service Manuals, IQ/OQ documents, Checklists and Troubleshooting Guides
• Implement a Technical Service Training program and run the Global Training Centre in Uppsala as a true Centre of Excellence
• Drive efficient Spare Parts Management activities for all instruments
• Develop Service Strategies for existing and to be launched instruments
• Align all activities with the Global Services' Quality Management System and drive implementation of SOP's on a global and regional basis
• Support Launch Projects, Product Development and Product Care activities by driving the understanding for "design for serviceability"
• Provide guidance for how to measure relevant service statistics and instrument KPI's as well as how to define Service Level Agreements
• Calculate correct service costs for instrument lines
• Support the CAPA and complaints processes in order to see that service related activities are registered, resolved and reported correctly
• Proactively drive collaboration activities to secure a best practices approach with the service organizations within IDD and other Thermo Fisher groups
• Lead on-site support for complex installations and repairs at Key Accounts
• Manage in-house Centre of Excellence Service Engineers at the Uppsala site
• Interface and build rapport with main suppliers
• Team budget and expense reporting
WHAT EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS ARE WE LOOKING FOR?
• You should have worked with Field Service for ten or more years, with at least five of those years being in the IVD industry and in a people management position.
• Must be able to demonstrate a track record of high customer satisfaction.
• You will ideally have a technical or scientific university degree.
• We are looking for someone who has a proven ability to manage people and projects effectively in a matrix environment
• Must have good presentation skills as service training and presenting at internal/external meetings are normal activities.
• Strong competency and an interest in continuous learning in the areas of IT, computer, software, electrical/electronic engineering, mechanics and biochemistry
• It is advantageous if you have a good command of service tools, for example Remote Diagnostics and of Service Management Solutions, preferably ServiceMax.
• Excellent written and oral English communication skills.
